Sustainability as a Profit Driver

July was an incredibly active month for The Ashkin Group. We're thrilled to collaborate with so many global leaders helping them advance their sustainability initiatives and reduce their organizations environmental impact.

One key theme we explored in July on our website, LinkedIn, and other media platforms was the growing recognition of sustainability as a powerful business tool.

A recent Morgan Stanley Institute study found that companies now overwhelmingly view sustainability as a profit generator and a cost-saving measure. As one researcher noted, sustainability is now essential to long-term company value.

We invite all business leaders to explore this topic further. Please don't hesitate to contact us for further discussion.

Leaders Leading the Charge on Sustainability

Our web and LinkedIn posts on the qualities of a Sustainable Business Leader have been incredibly popular, highlighting a significant shift in leadership priorities.

In the past, our sustainability initiatives often involved collaboration with mid-level management. Today, the landscape has dramatically changed. We're now engaging directly with CEOs who recognize sustainability as a strategic imperative.

These top executives understand that sustainability is an environmental concern and a business catalyst. By prioritizing sustainability, they're able to:

  • Mitigate risks associated with climate change.

  • Stay ahead of evolving regulations.

  • Optimize operations and costs.

  • Drive efficiency and profitability.

  • Foster a fair and equitable workplace.

More information is here. Once again, do not hesitate to contact me to discuss this further.

Paris 2024: A Gold Standard for Olympic Sustainability

It's surprising that more people aren't talking about it: the Paris Olympics are a groundbreaking achievement in sustainability.

The organizers have reduced the games' environmental impact by a staggering 50% compared to London 2012 and Rio 2016.

But what truly sets Paris apart is its legacy. They've established new sustainability and environmental standards for future Olympic Games.

This is a monumental step forward.

Paris 2024 deserves the gold, not just for its athletic feats but also for setting a new bar in responsible event hosting.

The Big Thank You

The USGBC's proposed LEED v5 green certification program eliminates the prerequisite for green cleaning in certified facilities and reduces credits for using green cleaning products and methods.

However, thanks to the powerful voices of approximately two hundred industry professionals who contacted the USGBC- and with the help of IFMA, ISSA, and BSCAI – the USGBC is reviewing these proposed changes. As I pointed out on LinkedIn:

Thank you to everyone who contacted the USGBC. You are making a difference in the professional cleaning industry.

See you at the end of August. Enjoy your summer.

-Steve
