Realizing the Benefits of Sustainability

There are many benefits to becoming a sustainability focused company. Some of these benefits are tangible - we can see them. Others are less tangible. They are less noticeable but still happening and helping your business.

Here are some benefits I would like you to remember:

- Increased customer loyalty and satisfaction. Customers are more likely to trust and support businesses that are sustainability focused. These companies demonstrate your company’s values and as well as your social and environmental responsibility.

- Helps you stand out. While it is true many organizations in the professional cleaning are now involved with sustainability initiatives, all too many still are not.  This is certainly true of many cleaning contractors. By adopting sustainability initiatives – and letting your customers and prospects know about it – helps differentiate your company from all the rest.

-Resilience. Sustainability is all about resilience. Sustainablity-focused companies are usually better able to get back on their feet after a major storm, such as we are experiencing now in Florida, or naturally occurring hazards.

- Enhanced employee engagement and retention. Employees are more motivated and productive when they work for a company that has a clear purpose and vision, especially when it comes to sustainability. They are also more likely to stay longer and grow with that company.

- Reduced costs and risks. By adopting sustainable practices, you can save money on energy, water, waste, materials, and other resources. You can also reduce your exposure to regulatory fines, legal liabilities, reputational damage, and other risks associated with environmental or social issues.

- Improved innovation and competitiveness. By embracing sustainability as a driver of innovation, you can create new products, services, processes, or business models that meet customer needs better or create new markets. You can also gain an edge over your competitors who may lag behind in sustainability performance.
