The Connection Between CARFAX and Sustainability Reporting

PRESS RELEASE

Sustainability Reporting Builds Trust and Credibility

In 2024, more organizations are going to be reading sustainability reports than ever before. This document shows how a company manages its environmental impacts, social initiatives, and governance policies and practices.

View this sustainability report like a CARFAX™ report for a used car, “but instead of telling you about the car's history, it tells you about the company's future,” says Steve Ashkin, the professional cleaning industry’s leading advocate for Sustainability.

“A sustainability report can help you decide whether to invest in, partner with, or buy from a company.”

According to Ashkin, this is what sustainability reporting is all about: disclosing information on an organization's sustainability and ESG performance.

The reporting builds trust and credibility among investors, customers, employees, communities, and other stakeholders. A strong sustainability report, according to Ashkin, shows that a company is aware of its ESG responsibilities, willing to act on them, and be accountable for them.

That's the gist of a new video by Ashkin, Sustainability Reporting: A CARFAX for the Cleaning Industry and published on ISSA Media.

"I first realized the connection between CARFAX and Sustainability while helping my son select a used car," says Ashkin. "We looked at used cars, but there was no way to tell if [the car] had been in an accident, was poorly maintained, or had issues."

Ashkin adds that the CARFAX report "unveils all these hidden issues just as an organization's sustainability report can reveal more precisely what steps an organization is taking to reduce their environmental impact, reduce costs and risks, and improve efficiencies."

Ashkin discusses these issues in a new, and very popular, eight-minute video on Sustainability.

In the video, Ashkin discusses how a robust sustainability report “can establish trust by demonstrating a company's commitment to ESG goals and willingness to be held accountable.”

This is what end customers will be increasingly looking for in 2024 and beyond.

"Sustainability reporting is already growing exponentially," adds Ashkin. "Expect more industries to ask their vendors for their 'CARFAX' reports in coming years. It’s the future, and to thrive in the future, industries need to know about this?
