Bloomington, IN – The Ashkin Group announces that starting this year, it will begin a new program, honoring those who have made significant strides to promote a healthier, cleaner, safer, and more sustainability-focused environment.ISSA Show Las Vegas

The program, the Green Champions Awards Program, as well as this year’s recipients, will be introduced at the ISSA Tradeshow, November 18 to 21, 2019, in Las Vegas.

“These are leaders who have proven their commitment to protecting health and the environment,” says Stephen Ashkin, President of The Ashkin Group. “They never stopped believing we can make this a better, healthier world today and for future generations.”

According to Ashkin and decided “there is no time like the present. This must get done.”

That said, Ashkin announces this year’s Green Champions Awards Winners are the following:

Gene Woodard. Director of Building Services at the University of Washington, “Gene is being honored because of his focus on ergonomics. He [is] always looking for the safest, most ergonomic way to perform cleaning tasks and protect the health of cleaning workers.”

Katy Severinsen. A 21-year employee of Aramark, “we are honoring Katie for her many years promoting Green Cleaning in schools and her ongoing support of the Green Sports Alliance.”

Kelly Martin. Kelly has been with the Green Sports Alliance for several years. “She has done an outstanding job promoting the need for Green Cleaning in both professional and collegiate sports.”

Tracey Enger. Tracey is with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. “For more than 20 years, she has worked diligently with communities promoting Green Cleaning as a way to address many of the critical health and environmental issues around the country.”

William Balek. Now the General Counsel for ISSA, Bill also served as ISSA’s Director of Environmental Services for ISSA for several years. “Bill has demonstrated time and again the importance of the jansan industry to become more environmentally- and sustainability-focused.”

Ashkin adds, “these are all great people, true champions. It is an honor to recognize them for their work and dedication to environmental causes.”

The awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 20, at 2:30 p.m. at the ISSA Resource Center.
